All kids need to understand God’s Word for themselves, and they deserve to learn from adults who care about them.

It’s not enough for them to just learn about the Bible. They must learn to actually read the Bible for themselves.

Why?

Biblical literacy is a gift. When you teach a child how to read the Bible, you are giving them access to God’s truth for the rest of their lives.

Literacy skills are shrinking.

Any teacher will tell you that their students are less literate now than they were 5 years ago. Our national test scores confirm that. Kids today struggle with complex thinking tasks, reading comprehension, and microscopic attention spans. Most crave constant entertainment. So they are showing up to church without the skills they need to comprehend the biblical text, and yet the church does not seem to know how to help them.

But we can do something about it.
